Intro to Weaving
Repurpose everyday materials into handwoven creations! Weaving is one of the most ancient art forms and can be used to create beautiful cloth and ornate designs. But at its basic level, it is a simple process of over and under that calms the mind and enlivens the spirit. This workshop will demystify the weaving process in the same way Siena’s grandma taught her, teaching you how to build a simple loom from recycled materials such as cardboard and styrofoam, prepare the loom, and get to weaving. We will meditate on color, texture, and time while delighting in the one-of-a-kind fabric coming into creation. All materials will be provided but please feel free to bring any special yarn, string, fabric, or fiber-like debris to create your own mini textile art.
