How did people cultivate and use plants in the early years of Philadelphia's founding? The Colonial Garden Consortium is a group of historical sites across the city that has teamed up for the nation's 250th anniversary to explore how Philadelphians' historic ingenuity in using plants as medicine, food, botanical discovery, and sources of pleasure. It includes Bartram’s Garden, The Woodlands, Fort Mifflin, Powel House, Pennsylvania Hospital, The College of Physicians of Philadelphia, Wyck Historic House, and Grumblethorpe. Join us for our June Meet and Geek to learn more about the Colonial Garden Consortium, see fascinating objects from the sites, and hear about the myriad ways plants were used in the Colonial through Early American eras.
