What is “damaged coffee,” and how could it cause a deadly epidemic? What does yellow fever smell like? What does diabetes taste like? How have doctors over the centuries used their senses of touch, hearing, taste, and smell to diagnose disease? Join David Barnes, PhD, Associate Professor of History and Sociology of Science at the University of Pennsylvania, for our next Mütter Meet & Geek, as part of our programming for our new 250th special exhibition, . This event will explore the changing role of the senses in public health and in everyday medical practice over the centuries. You’ll even get the opportunity to smell the distinctive odors of yellow fever yourself!
