PARK(ing) DAY Pop-Up Park Design Workshop

The number of parks throughout Philadelphia increases dramatically each year on the third Friday in September, when activists, artists, architects, and other citizens transform metered parking spaces into temporary public parks. Known as PARK(ing) DAY, this annual event re-imagines the possibilities of 140 square feet of public space. The event celebrates parks and other public spaces in cities across the country, and raises awareness of the need for more pedestrian-friendly spaces in our urban areas. If you’re in need of some design muscle and support we invite you to this PARK(ing) DAY Design Workshop on Wednesday, July 29, 5:30pm Design Gym (1714 N. Mascher Street). During this time is available for all of this year’s teams and curious designers seeking coaching to help design and develop their own pop-up/temporary parklets for Friday, September 18, 2026.
