
Yoga for Healthy Backs
Back pain can be complicated, and if it is bad enough, it could have a negative effect on your whole life. There are many causes for back pain that range from biological, psychological and social components. Yoga is uniquely equipped to maintain a healthy back and alleviate back pain because it includes a thorough, bio-psycho-social approach to navigate pain that many modalities lack. Jake will provide a clear roadmap for maintaining a healthy back, that will focus on key alignment tips, biomechanics, poses and exercises for the low back. He will also offer breathwork, meditation and deep relaxation techniques, all while in the presence of a like-minded, supportive community. This class is beginner-friendly and all-levels are welcome. Those who are currently experiencing back pain are invited to attend if they have been cleared for exercise by their doctor. Jake bases his teachings on his research as a health journalist who focuses on pain management, mental health and yoga. Jake has over 18 years of teaching experience and is trained in yoga therapeutics, which is similar to physical therapy through the lens of yoga.
