This Weekend in Philadelphia: Choreomania at the Mütter, a Mischief Night Food Tour, and a Monster High Prom

Halloween falls on Saturday, and Friday opens with Choreomania back at the Mütter Museum: a garden party in the Benjamin Rush Medicinal Plant Garden at 6, then a medieval village from 7 with light installations by Glimmer Labs, after-hours museum access, and sets from DJ Yngfu and DJ Daniela, at $85. This year's theme is choleric, one of the four humors, and the museum encourages peasant-core, medieval, or demonology costumes. Bites and Bodies - a Mischief night food tour on East Passyunk

Chef Jacquie starts at the Singing Fountain and walks East Passyunk after dark, telling the neighborhood's stories of notorious characters, local scandals, superstitions, and restless spirits. The food along the way includes street-food bites, a sip of Chianti, pasta served with a murder story, and sweets with a secret. At $79 it is the most expensive pick on this list, so it suits someone who wants the history as much as the dinner.

A Good Haven Halloween

A 21+ costume dance night at The 700 on North 2nd Street, with R&B classics, disco, funk, and club edits from Yo Will and DJ Vonn, both from DC, and Kwasi from Philadelphia. The cover is $10 and the night runs until 2. The host notes that guests may be photographed and recorded for promotion.

A strength and cardio workout at the Art Museum steps where your pumpkin is the weight, about 3 pounds for a moderate session and up to 10 for a harder one. The $10 price needs the coupon code CandyCorn when you sign up on MindBody, and walk-up registration is $20. It is the only morning pick on this list.

chinatown stationery stroll

Saturday, 12:00–2:30 PM • 143 North 11th Street • $10

Han McCoy of Birdie & Co. takes ten people through four Chinatown craft shops, You & Me, Asia Crafts, and Little Seven House, before a last stop at Happy DIY to make a keychain or ID holder. Tickets are on a sliding scale from $10 to $25, and sign-up closes Friday at 11:59 PM. Expect mostly standing and walking, and costumes are encouraged.

Monster High: After Dark

A Monster High prom at The Hayes on Walnut Street in two parts, an all-ages fashion show of local designers from 5 to 7:45, then a 21+ after party with music, dancing, a costume Boo-Off for cash and a prize, and a Prom Royalty crowning. Each part costs $15, or $25 for both, paid at the door by Cash App, Venmo, or cash.

Beginner Salsa/Bachata Class

A weekly class on Spring Garden Street that starts with basic steps and lead-and-follow technique, then moves on to spins, turns, and timing. You do not need a partner or any experience. The drop-in is $25, and the studio offers three classes for $59 if one is not enough.
