Weekend of Sep 25–27, 2026
This Weekend in Philadelphia: Adoptable Dogs in Rittenhouse, a Puerto Rican Day Yacht, and Dolly Parton Pilates
Published September 22, 2026

Philadelphia has 64 events on the calendar for September 25–27, and 23 of them are free — a thinner free count than recent weekends, so the paid picks carry more of this list. Friday is front-loaded with craft sessions and early evening fitness, including a Dolly Parton Pilates class that exists because the date is 9/25. Saturday is the deepest day: adoptable dogs and hot dogs in Rittenhouse Square for five hours, a yacht kickoff for Puerto Rican Day parade weekend, and a $5 theatre night of material cut from past productions. Sunday runs quieter and cheaper, with a free plant-shop portrait pop-up and free standup at Evil Genius. The eight picks below cover Friday afternoon through Sunday night, and three of them cost nothing.

Fourth Friday Vendor Event
Friday, 4:00–7:00 PM • MVMNT Queen Village • Free
Local vendors set up outside MVMNT Queen Village with candles, clothing, DIY flower bouquets, and Korean skincare from Sabbatical Beauty. It runs three hours on a Friday afternoon, so it works as a stop on the way to something else rather than the evening itself. Nothing to pay at the door.

9 to 5: Dolly Parton Pilates
Friday, 5:30–6:30 PM • Midsection Connection • $20
Rose DiMarco runs a full hour of Pilates set to a Dolly playlist start to finish, on 9/25, which is the whole joke. Costume is encouraged — pink, denim, wigs, rhinestones — as long as you can still move in it. Five dollars of every registration goes to Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.

SUJA’S SPACE: FREE COMMUNITY YOGA
Saturday, 9:00–10:00 AM • Eakins Oval • Free
An hour of outdoor yoga on the grass across from the Rocky Steps, and the last of three free September Saturdays Suja has run there. Registration is through the host's site, but there is no cost. Bring your own mat and plan around the weather, since this one is fully outside.

Pre PR Parade kick off
Saturday, 3:00–7:00 PM • Ben Franklin Yacht • $55
Boarding is at 3 PM, the boat leaves at 4 and docks at 7, opening Puerto Rican Day parade weekend with live DJs, vendors, and food across two floors. The ticket also covers the after-event at Liberty Point, which is the part that makes $55 make sense. Miss the 4 PM departure and you miss the whole thing.

No. 05
Murdered Darlings
Saturday, 7:00–9:00 PM • The Deep End Studios • $5
Paper Doll Ensemble is pulling scenes, songs, and characters it cut from past full-length shows and staging them for one night — a witch's makeup tutorial and a funeral for a camp nurse among them. The company has worked this way since 2017, so the material is offcuts from a real back catalogue rather than a first draft. Five dollars for two hours of it.

Saturday, 10:00 PM–12:30 AM • Icebox Project Space • $5
